If you’ve been trying to use ChatGPT and found it unresponsive earlier today, you weren’t alone. The AI chatbot from OpenAI faced a global outage, leaving users unable to fetch responses for a brief period.
According to Downdetector, which tracks online service disruptions, the problem spiked around 12:44 PM IST, with over 500 reports in India alone. Similar complaints poured in from several other countries. While the issue seemed to hit the website version the hardest, many app users also reported being unable to access ChatGPT.
The good news: the chatbot is now back online and working again. OpenAI has not yet shared an official explanation for the downtime.
This isn’t the first time users have been locked out of ChatGPT recently. The service also went down twice in July, affecting both casual users and professionals who rely on the tool daily. Outages like these highlight how dependent people have become on AI tools and how disruptive even a short glitch can feel.
For now, if you were facing issues, you should be able to log back in and continue using ChatGPT as usual.
