OpenAI’s ChatGPT experienced a major global outage on June 10, 2025, disrupting services for thousands of users across both free and paid tiers. Downdetector, a real-time status tracking platform, showed a sharp spike in error reports starting around 2:45 PM IST. By 3:02 PM IST, more than 1,100 users had reported problems, with 93% of complaints specifically tied to ChatGPT. The remaining issues were attributed to the OpenAI app (7%) and login-related difficulties (1%).

Social media platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter), were flooded with user posts sharing screenshots of blank chat windows, interrupted responses, login loops, and frequent server error messages. Several users also noted that active sessions were interrupted without warning, resulting in lost work or incomplete conversations.
