Apple has unveiled its latest lineup of iPhones, which includes the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. While the design remains largely unchanged from their predecessors, these new models offer several notable improvements. The one big notable change is the introduction of the Action button, which was introduced with iPhone 15 Pro models. Also, new is the Capture button, which allows users to use the camera functions.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will be available in ultramarine, teal, pink, white, and black in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capacities. iPhone 16 starts at Rs 79900 and iPhone 16 Plus starts at Rs 89900.

The iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch display, while the larger iPhone 16 Plus pack in a 6.7-inch screen. Both models get a new look, as in the colour is infused throughout the back glass. The back glass is strengthened with an optimised dual-ion exchange process before being polished with nanocrystalline particles and etched to create a textured matte finish, said Apple. Apple also claims that the iPhone 16 models come with the latest-generation Ceramic Shield with an advanced formulation that is 50 percent tougher than the first generation and 2x tougher than glass on any other smartphone.
The Action button comes to iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, allowing users to easily access a variety of functions with just a press. Users can quickly open the camera, flashlight, or controls; switch between Ring and Silent; recognize music with Shazam; activate Voice Memos, Focus, Translate, and accessibility features like Magnifier; or use Shortcuts for more options
The two new vanilla iPhones are powered by the A18 Bionic chip, promising enhanced performance and energy efficiency. Apple said that the neural engine is two times faster than machine learning.
The A18 processor is 30% faster than iPhone 15 in terms of CPU performance. It is also more energy efficient and uses 30% less power than the A16 processor. It also has a 5-core GPU and 40% faster than iPhone 15.
The 6-core CPU is 30 percent faster than the A16 Bionic chip and faster than all the competition, said Apple. It is also more power efficient and can run the same workload with 30 percent less power than A16 Bionic. The 5-core GPU is up to 40 percent faster and 35 percent more efficient than A16 Bionic, as per Apple.
Apple iPhone 16 comes with the 48MP Fusion camera, which enables a 2x Telephoto option. In addition to wider-angle shots, the new 12MP Ultra Wide camera with autofocus enables macro photography. The Ultra Wide camera also gathers up to 2.6x more light for higher image quality, claims Apple.
