Apple’s most ambitious device in years is edging closer to reality. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter, the foldable iPhone is expected to headline Apple’s 2026 lineup, with development spanning Cupertino and supplier partners overseas.

Despite chatter about India playing a bigger role in production, Gurman notes Foxconn in China will remain central to manufacturing. The design, he says, should be imagined as “two titanium iPhone Airs side by side” — signalling Apple’s push for an ultra-thin form factor that leans on titanium for durability. If accurate, it would mark a major design achievement for Apple, marrying slimness with the complexity of foldable engineering.

But the future won’t come cheap. Gurman continues to believe the foldable iPhone will start at around $2,000, easily making it Apple’s most expensive handset yet. That puts it in line with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold Ultra and Huawei’s high-end foldables, but with the Apple polish that could redefine the category.

The launch window remains familiar: the traditional fall iPhone event, which typically serves as Apple’s biggest product moment of the year. By 2026, the foldable will likely be joined by refreshed models of the iPhone 17 line and beyond.
