Apple rolls out Safari Technology Preview 227 with fixes, performance upgrades and developer tools

Apple has released Safari Technology Preview 227, the latest update to its experimental browser first launched in 2016. The browser allows developers and early adopters to test features that may later ship in the standard version of Safari.

The new release delivers bug fixes and improvements across Accessibility, Animations, CSS, Editing, Forms, HTML, Images, JavaScript, Networking, Rendering, SVG, Storage, Tables, Web API, Web Inspector and WebAssembly.

Safari Technology Preview 227 is compatible with macOS Sequoia and macOS Tahoe, Apple’s upcoming operating system scheduled to launch later this year. The update can be installed through the Software Update section in System Preferences or System Settings for anyone who has already downloaded the browser from Apple’s website.

While Apple positions the preview as a testing ground for future Safari features, it has become a valuable tool for developers. It allows them to check site compatibility, experiment with new web standards and APIs, and provide feedback on performance or stability before the features roll out more broadly.
