Apple Mac shipments drop 17.5% in Q3 2024, despite overall PC market growth

Global PC shipments grew by 1.3% in Q3 2024, driven by increased notebook demand, with Lenovo leading and Asus seeing the highest growth, while Apple experienced a 17.5% decline.

Global PC shipments grew by 1.3% year-on-year in Q3 2024, reaching 66.4 million units, according to a recent report by Canalys. This marks the fourth consecutive quarter of growth, primarily driven by increased notebook shipments. Desktop shipments, however, saw a decline.

Also, companies like HP, Asus and Lenovo saw growth in terms of PC shipment in the third quarter, while Apple Mac devices saw a decline.

Notebook shipments, which include mobile workstations, rose by 2.8% to 53.5 million units. In contrast, desktop shipments, including desktop workstations, dropped 4.6% to 12.9 million units. The demand for commercial PCs is expected to rise as businesses aim to upgrade their systems before Windows 10 reaches its end of life in October 2025, according to the report.
