Adobe introduced significant generative artificial intelligence (AI) features in Adobe Acrobat yesterday, aiming to enhance creativity and productivity in digital documents. These features are powered by the Adobe Firefly Image 3 foundation model and will help Acrobat Reader users add or change images without leaving the app.

Further, it would allow image generation with text-based prompts within the app interface. In addition to the image-generation capabilities, Adobe also rolled out an insights feature for documents as well as the ability to summarise meetings.

The ‘Edit Image’ feature includes tools such as Generative Fill, Remove Background, Erase, and Crop, all powered by Firefly Image 3. These tools will allow users to easily add, or remove unwanted objects within document images, similar to Adobe’s popular image editing tool, Photoshop.

Additionally, the ‘Generate Image’ feature will allow users to create and fine-tune the created images, integrating them into any part of a document. According to Adobe, these generative AI image generation features are designed to enhance documents with unique visuals, making it easier for users to create customized document files, without needing extensive creative expertise or relying on other apps.
The ‘Insights Across Documents’ feature allows users to synthesise and format information from multiple documents into summarized or cohesive content. Adobe has also introduced a new chatbot named Acrobat AI Assistant, a conversational engine integrated into Reader and Acrobat workflows.
