Legendary India skipper MS Dhoni is well-known for his affinity towards machinery, and on Tuesday the seasoned wicketkeeper-batter announced that he has completed the DGCA Drone Pilot Certification programme. The former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain underwent a training program and obtained a drone pilot licence from Garuda Aerospace. He is now eligible to fly drones.
“Happy to announce that I have completed my DGCA Drone pilot certification program with Garuda Aerospace,” Dhoni wrote on Facebook.
Garuda Aerospace is a DGCA-approved Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) and has trained over 2,500 aspiring pilots to date. Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO of Garuda Aerospace, expressed happiness over Dhoni, also the brand ambassador and investor, to have completed the program.

“Having our brand ambassador and investor, MS Dhoni, personally undergo the training and get certified as a pilot is a monumental milestone for us. He picked it up very quickly and was extremely focused on learning,” Jayaprakash was quoted as saying by ANI. “His unwavering belief in our mission to revolutionise the drone industry is a massive source of encouragement for the entire team. Mahi Bhai is an inspiration, and his hands-on approach further validates our commitment to excellence and to fostering a culture of skill and innovation in this sector,” he added.
Dhoni has openly expressed his fondness for bikes and apart from his cricketing career, he has ventured into various fields.
Among his other and notable achievements outside the field of cricket, Dhoni has also been conferred with the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army in 2011.

Meanwhile, during his stint with the Indian cricket team, he amassed 17,266 international runs, executed 829 dismissals, and represented the country in 538 matches across formats. He announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020 but continues to represent CSK in the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhoni has also led the franchise to five IPL titles and remains one of the longest active players in the competition.
