Following the BCCI's decision to postpone the IPL for "one week" due to border tensions between India and Pakistan, all ten IPL teams have reportedly begun to dissolve their players, particularly the international players and support staff. Following a call from government authorities to the senior BCCI executives, including secretary Devajit Saikia and IPL chairman, the league's one-week suspension was formally announced at approximately 2:40 PM IST on Friday, May 9.
The franchises and broadcasters were among the parties that Saikia and Dhumal contacted right away. Postponing the IPL was unanimously agreed upon by all stakeholders.
"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the remainder of the ongoing TATA IPL 2025 with immediate effect for one week. Further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders," Saikia said in a press release.
The BCCI prioritized the safety and health of all players, officials, match officials, and support personnel. According to ESPNCricinfo, the Indian recruits and foreign players have already begun returning home.

"The teams have already started disbanding, with players and support staff understood to be taking the next available flights out of and within India," the report said.
According to league sources, the foreign players were extremely anxious about the military clash and will be returning by air over the course of the next few days. At last year's mega-auction, 10 franchises signed 62 foreign players.
"The players are doing well but of course, there is concern among them after seeing all that has happened," an IPL team official told PTI when asked about the foreign players' state of mind.
The Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings players are currently traveling on road from Dharamsala to the nation's capital. The IPL bandwagon was in Lucknow on Friday for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) match, which is now suspended. LSG declared, "Nation first," on its official social media page following the league's suspension.
In Sydney, Cricket Australia said it was keeping a careful eye on the situation in both India and Pakistan. Because of the ongoing conflict, the players' association in New Zealand has also voiced worries about the security situation in India and Pakistan. A similar statement was released by Cricket West Indies, whose players compete in both the IPL and the PSL.
