New Zealand's versatile cricketer, Daryl Mitchell, etched his name in the annals of cricket history on Sunday, April 28, by snaring five catches during the Chennai Super Kings' fiery clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Mitchell's stellar feat equaled the record for the most catches in a single Indian Premier League (IPL) match, a record previously held solely by Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi, achieved on October 4, 2021, while donning the SRH colours in a showdown against the Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi.

This extraordinary accomplishment joins the ranks of cricket luminaries like Kumar Sangakkara, who, while donning the gloves for the now-defunct Deccan Chargers, achieved the same feat in 2011 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

CSK's dominance wasn't confined to their fielding prowess alone; their bowling unit, spearheaded by Tushar Deshpande, delivered a masterclass, with Deshpande boasting impressive figures of 4/27. The result was a resounding victory for CSK, as SRH, chasing a daunting target of 213, crumbled under pressure, managing just 134 runs.
