Nirjala Ekadashi 2025 will be observed on Friday, June 6, and is regarded as one of the most significant and toughest fasts in the Hindu calendar. Known for its strict discipline, Nirjala Ekadashi Vrat requires devotees to abstain not only from food but also from water for a full 24 hours. It is believed that observing this Ekadashi fast with true devotion can bring the same spiritual merit as observing all 24 Ekadashis of the year.

This sacred vrat is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and those who observe it with full faith are believed to receive blessings of peace, prosperity, and liberation (moksha). It is also said to help in the cleansing of past sins. As per the scriptures, even if one is unable to observe other Ekadashis, performing Nirjala Ekadashi fasting sincerely once a year can offer the same benefits.

What to Eat Before Nirjala Ekadashi

Since this fast is strict, devotees usually eat a light, sattvic meal on the day before (Dashami) to prepare their body. Here are some pre-fast suggestions:

Avoid heavy, spicy, and fried foods before the vrat begins, as it may cause discomfort during fasting hours.
