Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said new vehicles that run entirely on ethanol will be introduced. Speaking at an event in Nagpur, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways recalled he recently met the chairman of Mercedes Benz company that launched an electric vehicle. "He (the chairman) told me that they would make electric vehicles only in future," he added. "We are bringing new vehicles that will run entirely on ethanol. Bajaj, TVS and Hero scooters will run on 100 per cent ethanol," the minister said.
Monsoon arrives in Delhi 2 days early, brings mercury down to 29 degrees Celsius
The monsoon arrived in the national capital on Sunday, two days before its scheduled onset, bringing respite to Delhiites from scorching heat, even as a woman died due to electrocution amid rainfall. The rains which started early morning brought the maximum temperature down to 29 degrees Celsius, eight notches below normal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi's primary weather station, logged 48.3 mm rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday, it said.
Patna-Ranchi Vande Bharat successfully completes third trial run
The Patna-Ranchi Vande Bharat Express on Sunday successfully completed the third trial run, an official said. The commercial operation of the semi-high-speed train will start from June 28, the official said. Birendra Kumar, Chief Public Relation Officer (CPRO) of East Central Railway (ECR), Hajipur zone, said that the final and third trial run of the Express with eight coaches was done successfully from Patna to Ranchi.

Himachal Pradesh: Due to severe weather condition the Mandi-Kullu National Highway will be blocked
Himachal Pradesh | Mandi police issues notice- It is informed that severe weather condition with continuous rain and flash flood in Khoti Nala near Aut has blocked Mandi-Kullu National Highway. Also, the alternate routes to this highway are also blocked. The Mandi-Joginder Nagar Highway is also closed. The general public/tourists plying on these Highways are advised not to stay on the roads adjacent to mountains as there is a high risk of landslides/rock fall.
The highway is likely to be opened by tomorrow. People stuck on either side are advised to turn back and make necessary arrangements to stay for the night in nearby towns.

Assam flood situation improves
The flood situation in Assam showed signs of improvement as the number of affected people came down to about 2.70 lakh, an official bulletin said on Sunday. Manipur violence: Internet ban extended again till June 30
The Manipur government on Sunday extended the ban on internet services in the state for five more days to prevent any disturbances of peace and public order.According to an official release, the ban on internet services in the Northeast state, which has been racked by ethnic clashes and violence, has been extended till 3 pm on June 30 to "prevent any disturbances of peace and public order in the jurisdiction of the State of Manipur".
Gauhati High Court stays Wrestling Federation of India elections
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections, delayed several times, were stalled yet again with the Gauhati High Court on Sunday staying the July 11 polls on a petition filed by the Assam Wrestling Association. The Assam Wrestling Association, in its petition filed against the WFI, IOA ad-hoc panel and the Sports Ministry, said that though it was entitled to be an affiliated member of the WFI, it was not granted one. The state unit claimed that the then WFI Executive Committee had made recommendation for its affiliation at the Federations' General Council in Gonda, on November 15, 2014 but it was denied recognition.

Airstrike hits busy market in opposition-held northwestern Syria and kills at least 9 people
An airstrike early Sunday over a busy vegetable market in northwestern Syria killed at least nine people, activists and local first responders said. Activists and Britain-based opposition war monitor the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that Russia, a top ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad, launched the strike over the strategic opposition-held town of Jisr al-Shughur near the Turkish border. The strike comes a day after Moscow's top mercenary group briefly revolted against Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Assam flood: Over 4 lakh hit, Amit Shah assures assistance
The flood condition in Assam remained grim on Sunday, with over four lakh people hit by the deluge across nine districts, even though water levels started to recede, an official said.
So far, three persons have lost their lives in this year's first wave of flood in different parts of the state, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) official said. According to an ASDMA report, over 4,07,700 people are impacted by the deluge in Baksa, Barpeta, Darrang, Dhubri, Goalpara, Kamrup, Lakhimpur, Nalbari and Udalguri districts.
