Unacademy's Gaurav Munjal offers advice to startup founders: 'Don’t do it for the wrong reasons'

Gaurav Munjal further said that those who startup with the intention of making quick money give up along the way.

The past decade or more has witnessed a surge in the number of startups in India, across various industries, as several IIT and IIM graduates have opted to begin from scratch, instead of taking the corporate route.

The startup journey for many, however, has not proven to be a bed of roses and Unacademy CEO Gaurav Munjal offered a piece of advice to startup founders recently, urging them to not do it for the wrong reasons and stay patient about the company's growth.

Writing on X (formerly Twitter), Munjal said that building business in India was a "long game" and admitted that it took 15-20 years to build an "iconic company".

"Founders don’t realise this on Day One but building a Business in India is a Long Game. Takes 15-20 years to build an Iconic Company," Munjal wrote on Wednesday.
Munjal further said that those who startup with the intention of making "quick money" give up along the way. "Those who Startup to make quick money give up along the way. Don’t do it for the wrong reasons," he wrote.

Munjal's post saw a lot of replies from users, many of whom agreed with his suggestion.
