A Mumbai-based advertising CEO, Shubham Gune, became the focus of online attention after he shared a light-hearted LinkedIn post suggesting that the platform introduce a new badge called “#OpenToMarry”, similar to its existing “Open to Work” feature.

The founder and chief executive of the advertising agency Hinglish, Gune said he was inspired to make the proposal after being disappointed by his experiences with dating and matrimony platforms. In his post, he asked, “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi? Before you judge me, hear me out.”

Explaining his reasoning, Gune wrote that despite trying several conventional routes — such as dating apps, matrimonial sites, and introductions through friends and family — he had yet to find a suitable partner. “There are so many of us in the right age, right stage of careers, financially independent and emotionally ready. If LinkedIn can get us jobs, clients, mentors, and investors… why can’t it help us find love?” he wrote.
