Industrialist Anand Mahindra on Wednesday acknowledged that rival Tata Motors has been a pioneer in the Indian truck industry. He also lauded the "outstanding" contribution of the late Sumant Moolgaokar in shaping the company.
"Tata has been a pioneer and pathbreaker in the Indian truck industry," the Mahindra Group chairperson wrote on X. "We acknowledge, with admiration, the architect of Tata Motors -- the outstanding industrialist Sumant Moolgaokar. We consider it a privilege to join them and compete in this industry. By doing so, we add to the manufacturing capability and competence of India."
Anand Mahindra made the remark when after announcing an award won by Mahindra Truck and Bus, an X user pointed out that despite the awards, the company has fewer sales than Tata Motors.
Responding to Mahindra's post, X users praised the healthy competition between the two companies and their contribution to the Indian motor industry.
"Tata Motors and Mahindra make us proud wherever we go over the globe. Just yesterday only we watched the Scorpio Pikup offering more and more value and winning against the mighty land cruiser in Australia!" wrote a user while another said, "Being Indian matters the most. Tata and Mahindra both are Indian players. A healthy competition must be cherished. Both of them will give their best!"
