In response to increasing demand for a simpler grocery shopping experience, Swiggy has announced a new Shopping List feature in development on its platform, Swiggy Instamart. The feature is currently being piloted with plans to expand it to a wider audience over time, as shared in a recent post by Swiggy co-founder Phani Kishan on X (formerly Twitter).
The announcement followed a post by user @GabbarSingh, who highlighted the shopping habits of many Indian consumers, who often rely on prepared lists given to shopkeepers, and expressed difficulty over the need to search for and add items individually in digital carts on apps like Swiggy, Blinkit, and Zepto.
Acknowledging the feedback, Kishan included a brief video demo of the Shopping List feature in his post, illustrating how it allows users to prepare and manage shopping lists directly on Swiggy Instamart, aiming to replicate the traditional offline shopping experience in a more streamlined digital form. Kishan’s captioned, “Well, we heard you,” in response to the post by @GabbarSingh.
The update generated significant interest and discussion online among consumers. Some users also praised the speed of launching the feature.
"Wow! It looks so seamless and is nicely built. Hoping that it in future it will also be able to read handwritten texts," a user wrote.
Another user commented, "That was the quickest response I have seen till now! All moms keeping you in their blessings."
"This is incredible!" a third user remarked. A fourth user stated, "The speed at which the new age startups ship things. Love this feature, makes it so easy to shop, especially for parents. Would love to show this to my dad."
