The post also prompted a wave of public responses, with many users remarking on the student’s trajectory.

Zomato chief executive Deepinder Goyal shared a message on Tuesday highlighting the experience of a fourth-year design student who had earlier worked as a picker at a Blinkit dark store and was now preparing to join Zomato’s design team. Goyal posted a screenshot of the note he received from the student, Atharv Singh, and wrote that accounts of this nature made the effort behind the company worthwhile.

In his message to Goyal, Atharv said he had managed his studies and living expenses without support from home. “Life really comes in full circle,” he wrote. He explained that he was in his final year of design school and had been responsible for arranging his own college fees, rent and other basic requirements.

“I had to manage my own funds for college fees and rent and other expenses as my dad didn’t support my education,” he said. He added that there had been periods when he had been unable to earn anything, yet his expenses continued to rise. “There was a time when I was not able to earn anything and life was still asking for more.”

Atharv said that an advertisement on Instagram announcing openings at Blinkit had altered the situation for him. He joined the closest dark store and worked there for four months. “Life just kept getting better ever since,” he told Goyal.

He went on to say that he was about to begin working with Zomato’s design team. “Now here I’m, who worked as a picker in Blinkit, joining your design team at Zomato,” he wrote. He thanked Goyal for creating the platforms that had enabled his progress. “Really grateful for what you’ve built and absolutely lucky to be a part of this! Just 1% done, this Blinkit boy will now deliver design at Zomato.”
