Ashwin took the second fewest number of deliveries to reach the landmark of 500 Test wickets and has a chance to reach 100 Tests if he plays the fifth and final Test of the series at Dharamsala.

India clinched the third Test of the ongoing five-match series against England at Rajkot by a record margin of 434 runs on Sunday to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

There were multiple talking points in the match, with hundreds from Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Yashasvi Jaiswal and twin half-centuries from Sarfaraz Khan on debut.

However, on Sunday, the 37-year-old returned to take the field on the fourth day of proceedings where he took the wicket of Tom Hartley, en route to the team winning in the match.
