Alexei Navalny’s widow Yulia Navalnaya's X account restored after brief suspension

The X account of Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, was on Tuesday restored after a brief suspension. It was, however, not clear why her account was taken down but prior to her account’s temporary suspension, she had posted a video message accusing Russian President Vladimir Putin of being responsible for her husband’s death.  Navalnaya also called on the Russian citizens to rally around her in the fight to secure a free country.

Following the suspension, Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation had tagged the owner of the social media platform, Elon Musk, in a post to ask “exactly which rules were violated”. Interestingly, accounts of their allies appear to have been unaffected, CNBC reported.

Currently, the top post on Navalnaya's account is the video of Navalny’s mother demanding the return of her son’s body.

The 47-year-old was a popular and vocal critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He died on Friday while serving a 19-year prison term in Arctic penal colony.

His death triggered an international outrage, with many political leaders holding Putin responsible. Meanwhile, on Monday, Navalnaya said that she believed her husband was killed by Putin and vowed to continue his work to fight for a free Russia.
