In a bizarre and stomach-churning incident, a Delta flight from Birmingham, Alabama, to Atlanta, Georgia, turned into a mid-air nightmare on Christmas Eve in the US when a passenger pooped their pants in their seat.
What initially seemed like an innocent odour turned out to be a shocking revelation as a passenger allegedly left defecated themselves while seated, forcing fellow travellers to endure an unbearable stench for the entirety of the flight.
The details of this faecal fiasco surfaced through a viral Reddit post.
As the flight soared at 30,000 feet, an unidentified parent and their 8-year-old daughter became unwitting participants in a truly unpleasant saga.
The anonymous Redditor shared their harrowing experience, recounting the discovery of a nauseating smell permeating the cabin, initially mistaken for his child's mishap.
It wasn't until the plane landed that the true source of the stench was unveiled - a fellow passenger, eight rows ahead, had apparently soiled the seat, leaving it completely covered in faeces.
His own pants and halfway up his back was also covered in excrement as he proceeded to deboard the flight after enduring the entirety of the journey, approximately an hour, in their own mess.
“Upon deplaning, saw s–t on the seat spread out like peanut butter as you mentioned, YUCK!!!!!! Saw the person scampering towards the restrooms,” one commented who was on the flight wrote.
This wasn't the only occurrence on the Delta flight. Reports from other passengers included an announcement about a forgotten dog in the boarding area.
Many on Reddit sympathised with the man saying that some people have health issues leading to uncontrolled bowel issues.

“Life isn’t easy for people with stomach issues. I’ve literally tossed underwear, rinsed pants out in sink and soap and rubbed with sanitizer just to finish a trip,” one user wrote.
Just a few months back, a plane from Atlanta to Spain, was forced to turn around after a passenger suffered a bout of explosive diarrhoea.
