A menace that started a while back, but is now refusing to leave is that of leopards encroaching human space and in yet another instance, a cub was spotted inside a hotel in Jaipur on Thursday a Times of India report said.
The incident took place at the Kanota Castle heritage hotel when the leopard walked into the hotel staff room at around 9:40 am. The employee residing in the room had gone to drop his son to school and on discovering a leopard inside upon returning shut the room, with the animal inside.
"In the morning, the dogs in the hotel suddenly started barking. The hotel staff tried to calm the dogs, but they did not stop. During this time, a tourist at the hotel saw the leopard and informed the staff about it. After this, the hotel owner informed the forest department, and the team reached to rescue it," an official in the forest team said.
After entering the room, the leopard had scattered all the valuables inside and forest officials were called in for help.
"In the morning, we received information about the leopard entering the hotel. After this, our team and the team of Jaipur Zoo reached the spot. There was no loss of life in this entire rescue operation. The leopard was taken to Nahargarh Rescue Centre, where after first aid, it would be released into the forest once again," another official said.
The leopard was captured after one hour and tranquilised. This, however, is not the first instance in which a leopard has tried to cause chaos by entering a residential or corporate space.
A few days ago, a leopard was spotted at the TCS and Infosys campuses in Indore and led to forest department officials urging employees to stay indoors and not come outside the offices, unnecessarily.
