Harsha Bhogle has said that he was taken aback to see the emotional side of Virat Kohli after winning the T20 World Cup final. Only one day ago, the cricket commentator had predicted a "match-winning performance" by Kohli in the final.

The batting maestro had anchored the innings with a match-winning 59-ball 76 with two sixes and six fours to lift India to a formidable 176 for seven. Immediately after the match, a visibly emotional Kohli also announced his retirement from T20 international matches.

"I must admit I was a bit taken aback first to see Virat Kohli so emotional and then to announce that he has played his last T20I," the "voice of cricket" wrote on X. "This generation should consider itself lucky to have seen him in his prime. And when it counted, he showed why he is the big match player India is blessed to have."

Harsha Bhogle had also called out social media trolls for targetting Kohli over his poor performance in the former matches in the T20 World Cup 2024. The leading run-getter in the history of the T20 World Cups, had scored only 75 runs in seven matches prompting severe criticism from certain fan groups.

Bhogle urged the fans to stop targeting him on social media and to support him instead during his rough patch.
