Budget Verdict: Watch experts decoding the tricky Budget 2018

Only few days are left for the much-awaited Union Budget 2018-19 and expectations of the rural sector, urban workers, small traders, small and medium businesses, corporate honchos, etc., are rising.

This will be Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s last full budget before the general election in 2019 and it is expected that the government will make some big ticket announcements during the Budget 2018-19 to woo voters.

This year’s budget gains even more significance as it will be first budget post the introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST). The primary motive of the government will be to stick to its fiscal deficit targets as it is witnessing a fiscal deficit of around 3.5% GDP due to lower collection of indirect taxes, post GST.

This might affect the budget allocations and other policies. Meanwhile, the government will also look to meet the expectations of the common man, banking sector, etc. It is expected Jaitley will boost spending while containing inflation.
