The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is not ready to forgo the call drop issue despite the Supreme Court dismissing the case. Sudhir Gupta, Secretary, TRAI said that the regulatory authority is examining regulations to tackle the call drops issue. TRAI is seeking more powers to impose penalty on erring telcos. A recent test drive, conducted between May 3-6, in New Delhi shows that all telecom operators, with exception of Vodafone and Reliance Communication failed to meet call drop benchmark. The regulatory authority has also launched a website to publish results of its test drives. Gupta further said that TRAI will write to Department of Telecom for amending the TRAI Act to give it powers to impose penalty on defaulters. Watch video for more..
