Sources tell CNBC-TV18 that elections for 5 states may be held between the second week of February and March of next year.
These five states which will have assembly elections in 2017 include UP, Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand and Manipur.
It is further learnt that the Election Commission is likely to announce state poll dates any day after December 20.
