Make-in-India Day 3: More expansions, investments announced

Thousands including the who's who of corporate India thronged at the third day of the Make In India week in Mumbai despite the fire accident last night.

The Defence Minister announced that the new procurement policy will rollout from the 2nd of April.

On the third day of the ‘Make in India’ week, Coal Minister Piyush Goyal told CNBC-TV18's Kritika Saxena that the government would be opening up the process of auction of linkages soon. He also said that government has put out proposals for domestic coal for UMPP.Tulsi Tanti, Chairman, Suzlon Group said: “We are expanding the three new manufacturing facilities-one in Andhra Pradesh, one in Rajasthan, one in Madhya Pradesh.”The company would invest around Rs 150 crore for expansion of these three facilities and would increase the manufacturing base up to 4000 MegaWatt. The company now has sufficient capabilities because they reduced their exports and would be focusing on domestic market, said Tanti.Meanwhile, Coal Secretary Anil Swarup said the new target set for Coal India is 600 million tonnes of coal per annum.Speaking on the recent move by the government to impose a minimum support price (MSP) on steel products, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group says that the government is not at all wrong in imposing MSP. All the other countries are also doing the same to protect their domestic industries, he says. For more details, watch video
