The government of Andhra Pradesh at the three-day CII Partnership Summit that began on Sunday in Visakhapatnam aims at attracting foreign investment and turning the state into a manufacturing hub.CNBC-TV18’s Deepthi Bathini caught up with Venkaiah Naidu, the Urban Development Minister on the sidelines of the Summit and asked him if there were chances of the goods and services tax (GST) bill getting cleared in the budget session. Naidu said there was tremendous public opinion in favour of GST and every effort has been made to talk to Congress. When asked if the Budget session would be pre-poned, he said it would depend on the opposition, and if they were ready then he would not mind having even a special budget session.From the sidelines of the same Summit, CNBC-TV18’s Kritika Saxena also caught up with Piyush Goyal, the Power and Coal Minister and asked him about the timeline expected for the coal linkage policy and the commercial mining policy. Goyal said the government was ready to give out coal linkages through the auction process for non regulated sector. He was also hopeful of rolling out coal linkages policy for power sector in 2-3 months.The government will be releasing 3-4 UMPP bids in the next 2-3 months, said Goyal.
Meanwhile, Tulsi Tanti, Chairman of Suzlon Group, says the company is establishing fully integrated turbine manufacturing facility in the state and will invest Rs 2000 crore in next 3 months for the same.
