Prime minister Manmohan Singh will have a new-look cabinet. The congress has played it safe, with no ministers being dropped and only portfolios shuffled. However, three ministers have been elevated to the cabinet rank.

Prime minister Manmohan Singh will have a new-look cabinet. The congress has played it safe, with no ministers being dropped and only portfolios shuffled. However, three ministers have been elevated to the cabinet rank. 

Praful Patel of the NCP who was M-o-S, civil aviation, gets cabinet rank and shifts to heavy industries and public enterprises. Salman Khurshid, becomes cabinet minister for water resources with additional charge of minority affairs. Coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal too has been promoted to the cabinet rank. Sharad Pawar retains agriculture and food processing industries but loses food and civil supplies. Meanwhile new petroleum minister S Jaipal Reddy says government will have to seek a way out hike in diesel prices will have a cascading effect.
