Boats are out in Bengaluru as continuous rain flooded roads and low-lying areas in the city. Videos circulating on social media show National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) officers rescuing residents from flooded buildings in Kendriya Vihar, Yelahanka -- one of the worst-affected districts. The region resembled a river with waist-deep water.

Five NDRF teams were deployed to evacuate people from the flooded areas with the help of coracles. According to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Yelahanka received 157 mm (six inches) of rain in just six hours from Tuesday midnight to Tuesday 6 am.

This is the second time in two weeks, Kendriya Vihar apartments in Yelahanka have been severely inundated. NDRF personnel helped residents reach the main gate using boats. Incidentally, this is the same apartment that was home to late President APJ Abdul Kalam.
