Yoga guru and Patanjali founder Ramdev has blocked US millionaire and biohacker Bryan Johnson on X (formerly Twitter) after the entrepreneur challenged his anti-ageing claims and raised concerns about air pollution in India.
The exchange began on Tuesday when Ramdev shared a video of himself running alongside a horse and claimed that using Patanjali’s Swarna Shilajit and Immunogrit Gold could provide anti-ageing benefits, increased stamina, and stronger immunity.
"Ghode ki tarah tez daudne ki taakat, strong immunity, anti-aging aur power chahiye toh Swarna Shilajit avam Immunogrit Gold khaaiye (If you want to run like a horse, want strong immunity, anti-ageing, and power, then consume Swarna Shilajit and Immunogrit Gold)," Ramdev wrote.
Both products are manufactured by Patanjali Ayurved, the company co-founded by Ramdev and Balkrishna in 2006.
Bryan Johnson, who has invested millions in reversing ageing through his Project Blueprint, was quick to question Ramdev’s claims. In his response to the yoga guru’s post, he highlighted Haridwar’s poor air quality, stating that breathing the city’s air increases health risks.
"Air quality in Haridwar right now is PM 2.5 36 µg/m³, which is equivalent to smoking 1.6 cigarettes a day," Johnson wrote.
He further claimed that exposure to such pollution raises the risk of heart disease by 40–50%, triples the risk of lung cancer, and contributes to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and premature death, shortening life expectancy by 5–7 years.
Minutes after posting his response, Johnson discovered that he had been blocked by Ramdev on X. The entrepreneur shared a screenshot confirming that he could no longer view the yoga guru’s posts, captioning it: “Blocked.”
This is not the first time Bryan Johnson has expressed concerns about India’s environmental conditions.
He walked out of Nikhil Kamath’s podcast midway, complaining about poor air quality in Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Following the incident, Johnson explained: "When in India, I ended this podcast early due to the bad air quality. Nikhil Kamath was a gracious host, and we were having a great time. The problem was that the room we were in circulated outside air, which made the air purifier I'd brought with me ineffective," he said.
The millionaire, known for his extreme longevity experiments, also claimed that India’s air pollution had caused health issues during his short visit.
Johnson, a venture capitalist and self-experimenter, has gained widespread attention for his anti-ageing regimen, which includes: A plant-based diet, intermittent fasting, strict medical monitoring, and experimental treatments to slow down ageing.
