Perplexity AI's co-founder and CEO Aravind Srinivas appears to have stoked fears related to artificial intelligence after stating on X that AI tools would soon run our lives irrespective of whether we want it or not. Interestingly, it was the use of "run" in his post that attracted the most attention.
"AI will run your life whether you like it or not. That’s where things are clearly headed," Srinivas wrote. The post received more than a million views with many people retweeting it to highlight the bigger role Ai is expected to play in our lives.
"The CEO of Perplexity saying this, should make you sit up, pay attention," commented performance coach Dr Julie Gurner. "Run my life in a literal sense? Highly doubtful. Run my life in the sense that I will be interacting with AI routinely? Plausible," added X user and CEO Ben Sharpe (@kedlinco).
Another X user Nynemi (@Nynemi) said, "I never understand what people mean when they say stuff like that. What does 'run your life' mean exactly? And why does it always sound like a threat even though the people saying it usually view this as a positive development?"
Perplexity AI plans to expand operations in India
Srinivas's comments on AI running lives arrive days after he announced that the company is looking to hire a candidate to help expand its operations in India.
The role requires the candidate to be based in India, work in a startup environment, and travel to meet strategic partners and institutions, Srinivas wrote on LinkedIn.
This hiring push is significant, as Perplexity AI has garnered more than a million users in India, reflecting the growing popularity of the service, which has become a hot topic in Silicon Valley.
