A 70-year-old man died allegedly by suicide at his rented home in Uttar Pradesh's Bajaria, on Saturday. While no suicide note was recovered, police revealed a dispute had taken place between the deceased, Tulsiram Deepke, and his 60-year-old wife, Ujjwala, over dinner the previous night, the Times of India reported.
Tulsiram Deepke, originally from Maharashtra, had been living in Bhopal for five decades with his wife. The couple worked as daily wage labourers, while their three sons lived separately. On Friday night, Tulsiram reportedly returned home drunk and asked Ujjwala to cook fish. After being served, he allegedly complained about the taste and demanded 'dal' instead. The disagreement escalated, leading Ujjwala to leave the house and spend the night at the railway station.
Upon her return around 12.45 pm on Saturday, she discovered Tulsiram hanging. She immediately informed the Bajaria Police, who registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem examination.

This incident in Bhopal follows a recent case in Uttar Pradesh where a 14-year-old allegedly killed his 70-year-old grandmother after she refused his demand for Rs 2,600. The boy then slept beside the body to evade suspicion, The Times of India reported.
The incident occurred on the intervening night of May 21-22 in Malihabad's Mujaasa village. Police stated the boy got violent because his grandmother, Vidyavati Devi, who had raised him after his parents died, refused to give him money for school fees, perfume, and a party. "I didn't know Dadi was poorer than Baba. She refused money. When she pushed me, I got angry and choked her," he told the police, adding he smothered her with a pillow to ensure she was dead. He then placed the body on the bed, pretended everything was normal, and left for school the next day.
The crime was uncovered when Vidyavati Devi's daughter asked a neighbour to check on her.
