Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has partnered with Meta and their authorized India partners, Pelocal Fintech to extend WhatsApp ticketing for all Metro lines in the Delhi/NCR region, including the Gurugram Rapid Metro.
In a press statement, DMRC said that WhatsApp is the preferred messaging platform in the country and will make it easier to buy Metro tickets for your routes. The Corporation was hopeful that this will, "encourage more commuters to choose the Delhi metro as their preferred mode of travel".
All commuters need to do is to text 'Hi' from their WhatsApp account to +91 9650855800 or scan one of the QR codes at the station to easily buy tickets. Users can generate up to 6 QR tickets, which can be booked between 6 am to 9 pm for all lines.
There is a catch to this, ticket cancellations will not be applicable for WhatsApp tickets. A small convenience fee will be charged for credit/debit card transactions but UPI transactions will not be subject to this cost.
