Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series Availability
There will be both 4G and 5G models for the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The Galaxy Note 20 will be available in Mystic Bronze, Mystic Green, and Mystic Grey. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra arrives in three colours - Mystic Bronze, Mystic Black, and Mystic White. Both phones will go on sale on August 21 in select markets.
Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Specs
The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is powered by the latest Snapdragon 865+ SoC. However, Indian and European audiences will be stuck with the same old Exynos 990 chipset. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra packs a 4,500 mAh battery with a 25W charger bundled in the box. The phone does not support the faster 45W charging speed like the S20 Ultra. The Note 20 Ultra also boasts 15W wireless charging support and 9W reverse wireless charging.
The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra sports a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED panel with 1440p+ resolution. The screen features a 120Hz refresh rate; however, you can only use the high refresh rate at FHD+ resolution. The screen’s punch-hole camera cutout houses a 10 MP selfie camera. Additionally, the Note 20 series is the first to be protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. This is better at resisting scratches and can withstand drops from a height of 6.5 ft on a hard surface.
For optics, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra opts for a triple-camera setup with a 108 MP primary sensor with optical image stabilisation but no PDAF. However, Samsung has axed the 3D ToF sensor and replaced it with a Laser AF module. The main camera is paired with a 12 MP, f/3.0 aperture periscope shooter with 5x optical zoom, although Space Zoom is limited to 50x magnification as opposed to 100 times on the S20 Ultra. The Note 20 Ultra maintains the same 12 MP, f/2.2 ultrawide sensor as the S20 Ultra. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra can record video in up to 8K resolution at 24 fps.
Galaxy Note 20 Specs
The specs and design for the Galaxy Note 20 are largely similar to the Note 20 Ultra with a few compromises. The Note 20 sports a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 1080p+ (FHD+) panel. However, the two main caveats here are that the screen refresh rate is limited to 60Hz and is protected by older Gorilla Glass 5. The vanilla Note 20 also losses out on the curved panel and opts for a flat screen.
The punch-hole camera cutout on the Galaxy Note 20 houses a 10 MP, f/2.2 selfie camera. The Note 20 also gets a triple camera setup but loses out on the 108 MP camera. Instead, Samsung opts for a 12 MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture with OIS and PDAF. Additionally, you get a 64 MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom, OIS, and PDAF. Lastly, the 12 MP, f/2.2 ultrawide camera is the same as the Note 20 Ultra.
In terms of battery, the Note 20 opts for a 4,300 mAh capacity with the same charging capability as the Note 20 Ultra. The Galaxy Note 20 is powered by the Snapdragon 865+ SoC, although the Exynos 990 will be used in Europe and India.
Both the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra run on Android 10 with the One UI 2.1 skin. The Galaxy Note 20 series is also IP68 rated for dust and water resistance. Microsoft makes an unexpected appearance here as Samsung will be pushing its compatibility with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for the Note 20 Duo.
Galaxy S Pen
The S Pen and the supporting Wacom layer on the screen can now achieve 9ms latency. Five new Anywhere actions can be used for navigation. Notes taken on the Galaxy S Pen can be covered to Microsoft Office formats and synced with other devices through Samsung Notes. Samsung claims that the S Pen has been updated to the point where it is as good as writing on paper.
