July 2020 is turning out to be an exciting month for mobile gamers. Less than a week after we saw Asus and Lenovo unveil their gaming handsets, another competitor seems to be joining the fray. The Nubia Red Magic 5S recently debuted in China with a revamped cooling system and flagship-grade hardware.
Nubia Red Magic 5S Price and Availability
The Nubia Red Magic 5S is priced at CNY 3,799 (roughly Rs 40,560) for the base 8GB/128GB variant. The phone arrives in two more memory options, including 12GB/256GB for CNY 4,399 (roughly Rs 47,000) and 16GB/256GB for CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs 53,400). The Red Magic 5S arrives in a dual-tone blue and red and silver. The phone will go on sale in China on August 1 and will hit international markets in September.
Nubia Red Magic 5S Specs
Unlike the ROG Phone 3 and Legion Phone Duel, the Red Magic 5S opts for the vanilla Snapdragon 865 SoC. The chipset is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The phone gets a new cooling system with a silver-plated cooling pad that should deliver better results than traditional copper heat pipes. The Red Magic 5S also retains the 15,000 RPM spinning fan from its predecessor.
Nubia’s latest gaming phone packs a 4,500 mAh battery with 55W fast charging support. The phone boots Red Magic OS on top of Android 10. The Red Magic 5S also sports a 6.65-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The handset also gets capacitive touch triggers with a 320Hz touch rate.
For optics, Nubia has added a triple camera setup on the back with a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor. The main camera is paired with an 8MP ultrawide snapper and a 2MP macro shooter. On the front, the phone opts for an 8MP selfie camera. The phone features slim side bezels and slightly thicker top and bottom bezels, while RGB lighting is present on the back.
