Tech capital Bengaluru is set to receive a non-AC Amrit Bharat train to Malda, West Bengal, and a Vande Bharat train to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off two Amrit Bharat trains: Malda-Bengaluru and Delhi-Darbhanga, along with six Vande Bharat trains: Coimbatore-Bengaluru, Mangaluru-Madgaon, Ayodhya-Anand Vihar, New Delhi-Vaishno Devi, Amritsar-New Delhi, and Jalna-Mumbai on December 30.
Modi, who is likely to visit Ayodhya for the inauguration of a new railway station and Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram Airport, will inaugurate these trains from there.
This is the first time Bengaluru is getting a non-AC Amrit Bharat, equipped with push and pull technology to enhance average speed and reduce travel time.
Amrit Bharat train, formerly known as Vande Sadharan, will consist of 22 coaches and two locomotives, including 12 sleeper coaches and eight coaches for the unreserved class, accommodating up to 1,800 passengers.
Amrit Bharat trains are targeting daily-wage workers who prefer non-AC or unreserved travel over premium trains like Vande Bharat. Railways had faced criticism for allegedly reducing the number of AC coaches.
The train will operate with a speed limit of 130 kmph and will feature amenities such as CCTV surveillance, mobile charging points at each seat, LED lights, etc.
Vande Bharat on Bengaluru-Coimbatore,
Karnataka will receive two additional Vande Bharat trains, connecting Bengaluru to Coimbatore and Mangaluru Central to Madgaon in Goa.
Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Coimbatore is expected to be a relief for those traveling between the two cities, including tech professionals, businesspeople, and students.

Presently, three Vande Bharat trains connect Bengaluru: Mysuru-Bengaluru-Chennai, Bengaluru-Hubballi-Dharwad, and Bengaluru-Hyderabad.
Kusuma Hariprasad, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Bengaluru division, confirmed to Moneycontrol that Bengaluru is getting a non-AC Amrit Bharat train to Malda and a Vande Bharat to Coimbatore.
She stated that the division is making all preparations to welcome these trains, ensuring a comfortable and faster journey for passengers.
