Simple One: The Rs 1.1 lakh electric scooter from a 2-year-old start up

The start-up Simple Energy claims that the Simple One has a maximum ride range of 236 kms on a full charge

Simple Energy, the Bengaluru-based two-year old start up, made its debut in the electric vehicle (EV) space with the launch of the Simple One, a Rs 1.1 lakh electric scooter, August 15.

Built at a factory in Tamil Nadu the Simple One will be available in 13 states including Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab and Delhi. At that price (ex-showroom, without state subsidies) the Simple One competes against the Ather 450, TVS iQube and the Ola Electric S1.

The start-up claims that the Simple One has a maximum ride range of 236 km on a full charge and its 4.5 kW motor can push the scooter to a maximum speed of 105 km/hour depending on tyre type. Its lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 4.8 kWh which will take little under three hours for an 80 percent charge.

The Simple One has four ride modes – Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic. The digital dash board at 7-inch which gives out navigation, geo-fencing, SOS message, tyre pressure monitoring system, Bluetooth connectivity instructions, is as big at the Ola S1.
