Himalayan, that was Royal Enfield’s first dedicated off-roader, in its FI model this time has got rid of the carburettor. According to reports, there is little or no change in the overall engine output and the 411 cc machine continues to deliver a power of 24.5 PS at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 32 Nm at 4,250 rpm.
The FI version of the Himalayan has already reached the UK and features an anti-lock braking system (ABS) as per a report in Overdrive.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan will be returning to showrooms after a four-month hiatus. Dealers have been accepting bookings for the BS-IV Himalayan since April 1, and it was expected to reach by May 2017.
As per a blog report on RushLane.com, the new RE Himalayan was spotted at a dealership in Pune and is also being offered for test drives. The new version has resolved the backfire and vibrations issues that people reported in the earlier versions.
The Himalayan was shelved for four months, following the implementation of the BS-IV emission norms, and it was reported that the company was taking some time to clear out the structural as well as mechanical issues that had been reported by owners from different parts of the country (Courtesy: Royal Enfield website)
From the first-looks there aren't any design changes on the body.
The new Himalayan will get a matte black finish on the handlebar clamps, fuel tank clamp, luggage lock and bar end weights as per images of those spotted at dealerships.
No official announcement has been made about the estimated delivery dates yet, but it is expected to hit country wide showrooms soon.
The price is expected to be slightly more than its predecessor which was around Rs 1.75 lakh.
