AI hallucinations will largely be eliminated by next year, says DeepMind’s Mustafa Suleyman

Suleyman said eliminating hallucination would have a dramatic impact on education because these conversational AI's are friendly and fluent.

Artificial intelligence (AI) hallucinations will be largely eliminated by next year, said Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder, Inflection AI and DeepMind.

Hallucinations occur when a large language model (LLM) generates outputs that are logically correct, but are disconnected from reality. The issue of hallucination has become worrisome as LLMs are increasingly becoming convincing, leading users without sufficient domain knowledge to excessively rely on them.

“I'm very convinced that we're going to largely eliminate hallucinations over the next year. And they're going to be as accurate as any content that you can find on the web,” Suleyman said at the Nasscom Technology Leadership Forum (NTLF) 2024.
