The Galaxy S II is doing quite well, sitting atop a pedestal for some or battling it out on some mobile battlefields with the likes of Apple’s iPhone and LG’s Optimus 2X. And although, it’s still quite a new device, word in the vine is that Samsung just might be gearing up for the launch of its upgrade.

A possible Samsung Galaxy S III (or 3) just might be in the works and will obviously take things to the next level. There’s no official world on the kind of tech this handset, if indeed it’s already under construction, will feature, but according to rumors it could have a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen and possibly feature a slimmer bezel. The thinner bezel, like that on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, will give the handset the appearance of a larger display. Maybe we'll see a 12 megaxpiel camera thrown in, as well.

What would it be like?

What’s really quite weird about this scenario is that due to the whole Samsung vs Apple debacle, users in the US might end up seeing this device only after Apple finally let’s the Galaxy S II through. On the other hand, if the case sticks, they might not get it there officially, at all. This is one of those totally infrequent incidences when a piece of popular consumer technology made it to the east first and to the west later. It’s the opposite when it comes to arch rival Apple, where the US and Europe end up with a device we only see about a year later. Perhaps this new dynamic will change things.
