During the 67th address in July, PM Modi had recalled the valour of the Indian armed forces during the Kargil War, saying enemy perched atop heights was defeated by brave soldiers. In his address, PM Modi also noted that India will complete its 75 years of Independence in 2022 and suggested a host of measures to teachers to help bring to light contributions of thousands and lakhs of "unsung heroes" of the freedom struggle.

Before concluding his address, PM Modi said, “Coronavirus will be defeated when you will remain safe, when you fulfil the resolve of keeping a safe distance of two yards and wearing masks.”

PM Modi talks about the important role that dogs, trained to assist in important operations of the Indian defence forces, play.
“Dogs also have a significant role in disaster management and rescue missions. In India, the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) has specially trained dozens of dogs,” he said.
"I have been told that Indian breed dogs are very good and competent. The cost of their upkeep is also quite less and they are also accustomed to the Indian conditions. Now our security forces have also inducted and trained Indian breed dogs in their dog squads," he added.

On August 18, the prime minister had asked citizens to share inputs on what they would like to hear during this ‘Mann ki Baat’ address. A number of major events took place during August, including the bhumi pujan of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh and the 74th Independence Day.
PM Modi is also expected to talk about the novel coronavirus pandemic as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases being reported on a daily basis continues to rise. So far, India has reported 35.4 lakh COVID-19 case, including 63,498 deaths.
