In no uncertain terms, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday staked claim over the disputed Jama Masjid in Sambhal. The UP CM reportedly said that the Hindus should get what belonged to them.
‘’Jo hamara hai, who hame mil jana chahiye…..sach kadwa hota hai aur sach ko sweekar karne ka samarthya bhi hona chahiye’’ (we must get what’s ours….truth is always bitter and one should have the courage to accept the truth), Adityanath said while speaking in the Uttar Pradesh state assembly.
In a related development, Yogi added: "The success of such a large gathering in a city is not less than a miracle. The state government showed that with the strong will, such a massive event can be successfully organised. A government can manage the arrival of over 66 crore people if communication is proper and crowd management skills remain at play. The success of the Mahakumbh shows that police can be friendly and rumours can be overcome with the trust of people. With the right set of business skills, over Rs 3 lakh crore can be earned by investing Rs 7,500 crore. It was a litmus test (Agni Pariksha) for the state government and the Centre. The success of the event added glory to the Sanatan Dharma."
The chief minister’s remarks came at a time when the ownership dispute over the Sambhal Jama Masjid was pending in the court. A survey was also conducted there on the orders of the district court during which large-scale violence had broken
broken out resulting in the death of four people.
