Delhi recorded its lowest minimum temperature of the winter season on Wednesday, with the mercury dropping to 4.9 degrees Celsius, compared to 8 degrees Celsius the previous day.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature of 4.9 degrees Celsius at Safdarjung is the lowest recorded so far this season and matches the same temperature recorded on December 15 last year. The lowest-ever recorded temperature at Safdarjung was 0 degrees Celsius, on December 27, 1930.
The relative humidity level at 8:30 am was 64 percent, with the mercury expected to reach around 23 degrees Celsius during the day.
In terms of air quality, Delhi's air remained in the "poor" category, although readings showed improvement. The city's AQI stood at 207 at 8 am, down from 223 the previous day. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) classifies an AQI between 201 and 300 as "poor," with readings between 0-50 as "good," 51-100 as "satisfactory," and 101-200 as "moderate."
Out of 39 monitoring stations, RK Puram recorded air quality in the "severe" category, while 23 stations reported "poor" air quality, and the rest were in the "moderate" category, according to data from the Sameer app.
