Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the expanded and integrated Terminal 1 of Delhi Airport today. This expansion has doubled the airport's previous capacity, now allowing it to serve up to 40 million passengers annually. According to a press statement released on March 10 by GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd, this puts Delhi Airport among the world's elite global hubs with a capacity of 100 million passengers per annum (MPPA).

The revamped terminal is expected to elevate the passenger experience with state-of-the-art facilities and technologies. The integration of Arrival and Departure terminals aims to streamline operations and improve convenience for travelers. The expansion project was initiated in 2019 by GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd (GIL)-led DIAL in response to the significant growth in air traffic movements and passenger numbers at Delhi Airport.
