The hospital opened a post-COVID-19 clinic on August 20 after several recovered patients called up Dr Ajit Jain, the nodal officer for coronavirus, complaining about symptoms that lingered on for weeks after recovery."Around 1,500 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital since March 17.We created WhatApp groups for all these patients to collect feedback. We also call them up regularly to take stock of their condition," Dr Jain told PTI. "This is how we got to know that a few recovered patients were suffering from long-term complications like anxiety, breathlessness, insomnia."The feedback led to the opening of the post-COVID clinic, a first-of-its-kind facility, on the premises of the hospital with medical specialists to treat symptoms particular to their respective fields. "Around 120 such patients have approached us so far since August 20. We will have to open a post COVID ward if the number goes up," Jain said. (PTI)

For the United States, that will represent an economic loss of $15.3 trillion, the OECD said in a report published today, with the bill rising higher still if disruption to education extends into the next academic year.

Fitch Ratings today slashed India's FY21 growth projection to (-) 10.5 percent, from (-) 5 percent estimated earlier, saying the continued spread of the novel coronavirus and imposition of sporadic shutdowns across the country has disrupted economic activity.
In the first quarter of current fiscal India's gross domestic product (GDP) contracted by a massive 23.9 percent. Fitch said India recorded one of the sharpest GDP contractions in the world in the April-June quarter, but noted that growth should rebound strongly in the July-September period amid re-opening of the economy. Japan's top baseball and soccer leagues asked the government today to ease restrictions on the number of fans who can attend games amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Since July 10, up to 5,000 fans have been allowed into stadiums for J.League soccer matches and Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) games but at a joint news conference on Tuesday the leagues asked for that number to be increased to 20,000.
"We have been doing well, while changing our guidelines to ensure that spectators can enjoy a safe and secure environment. That has been effective," NPB Commissioner Atsushi Saito said.
Games had initially been held in empty stadiums when the NPB season began after a three-month delay in June, while the J.League resumed in early July after a four-month break.
