Thousands flout COVID-19 curbs during anti-lockdown rally in London
Thousands of anti-lockdown demonstrators turned up at Trafalgar Square in London on Saturday for a so-called We Do Not Consent rally to protest against restrictions imposed to check the spread of coronavirus, including the current "rule of six" which limits gatherings to a maximum of five people.
The Metropolitan Police issued a statement to warn that it would be stepping up patrols in line with the planned demonstrations, even as it reminded the public that such gatherings could be in breach of regulations designed to protect people from the virus.

The UK government's COVID-19 watchlist has been expanded from 58 to 92, including all boroughs of London, as the rate of infection continues to rise across Britain.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said he has spoken to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and urged him to impose a ban on the UK capital's estimated 9 million residents mixing between households as he criticised the government over a lack of adequate coronavirus testing facilities.
The total number of people across the UK living under stricter rules will stand at 17 million from this weekend.
In England, the "rule of six" and a 10pm closing time for pubs and restaurants applies nationally. Besides, extra restrictions have been imposed in several other areas including large parts of north-east and north-west England, West Yorkshire and the Midlands where the infection rate is higher.

The condition of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is suffering from COVID-19 and dengue, has further improved, a day after he was administered convalescent plasma therapy, and he is likely to be shifted from the ICU to a normal ward, officials said.
He is currently undergoing treatment at Max hospital, Saket, where he was admitted on Thursday evening after a "falling" blood platelet count and low oxygen level.
An official from Sisodia's office said, "His vitalsare better now. His condition has improved, and he will be shifted from the ICU to a normal ward today".

Of the 85,362 new coronavirus cases reported in India in a day, 75 per cent are found concentrated in 10 states and Union Territories, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.
It also said India has conducted a total of seven crore tests for the detection of coronavirus infection till now with the country's testing capacity having crossed 14 lakh tests daily.
The 10 states and Union Territories from where 75 per cent of the new cases have been reported are Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Delhi, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh.

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has capped price of Liquid Medical Oxygen and Medical Oxygen cylinders amid increased demand due to the COVID-19 situation.
NPPA has capped ex-factory price of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) at manufacturers end at Rs 15.22/CUM exclusive of GST. Ex-factory cost of Medical Oxygen Cylinder at the filler end has been capped at Rs 25.71/CUM exclusive of GST in suppression of the existing ceiling price of Rs 17.49/CUM, subject to transportation cost fixation at state level, for six months. This will be applicable to domestic production, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers said.
The existing rate contracts of state governments for oxygen purchase, as applicable, shall continue.
