India has so far recorded 5,48,318 lakh cases, which includes 16,475 deaths. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat have reported the highest number of cases. However, the recovery rate is rising and now stands at 58.6 percent. The government is expected to announce guidelines for 'Unlock 2.0' soon.

Single-day spike of 19,459 COVID-19 cases takes India's tally close to 5.5 lakh
Another big single-day spike of 19,459 COVID-19 cases took India's tally close to 5.5 lakh on Monday, even as the recovery rate further improved to 58.67 percent.
India's COVID-19 case tally rose to 5,48,318, while the death toll climbed to 16,475 with 380 new fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
This is the sixth consecutive day that coronavirus infections have increased by more than 15,000. The country has seen a surge of 3,57,783 infections from June 1 till date.
The number of active cases stands at 2,10,120, while 3,21,722 people have recovered, and one patient has migrated, according to the updated data.
The gap between recoveries and active cases is 1,11,602 as of Monday, with the recovery rate now at 58.67 per cent, the ministry said.
A total of 12,010 COVID-19 patients have been cured since Sunday.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative total of 83,98,362 samples have been tested up to June 28, with 1,70,560 samples tested on Sunday.

Unlock 2.0 Guidelines: National Directives for COVID-19 management
National Directives for COVID-19 management shall continue to be followed throughout the country, with a view to ensure social distancing.
Shops will need to maintain adequate physical distancing among customers.
MHA will monitor the effective implementation of National Directives.
Unlock 2.0 guidelines: Lockdown shall continue to be implemented strictly in the Containment Zones till 31 July, 2020
# Strict perimeter control shall be maintained and only essential activities allowed.
# These Containment Zones will be notified on the websites of the respective District Collectors and by the States/UTs
# The Union Health Ministrywill monitor the proper delineation of Containment Zones and implementation of the containment measures.
#States to decide on activities outside Containment Zones
#However, there shall be no restriction on inter-State and intra-State movement of persons and goods. No separate permission/ approval/ e-permit will be required for such movements.
Unlock 2.0 guidelines: All activities, except the following, shall be permitted outside containment zones:

# Cinema halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places
# Social/ political/ sports/ entertainment/ academic/ cultural/ religious functions and other large congregations.
#Dates for opening of these will be decided separately, based on the assessment of the situation.
Salient features of the new guidelines for Unlock 2.0
#
Domestic flights and passenger trains have already been allowed in a limited manner. Their operations will be further expanded in a calibrated manner.
# Night curfew timings are being further relaxed and curfew shall be in force from 10.00 pm to 5.00 am. Further, relaxations in night curfew have been given for seamless operation of industrial units in multiple shifts, movement of persons and goods on National and State Highways, loading and unloading of cargo and movement of persons to their destinations after disembarking from buses, trains and airplanes.
#Shops depending upon their area, can have more than 5 persons at a time. However, they have to maintain adequate physical distance.
# Training institutions of the Central and State Governments will be allowed to function with effect from July 15, 2020. SOP in this regard will be issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India.
#After extensive consultation with States and UTs, it has been decided that schools, colleges and coaching institutions will remain closed till July 31, 2020.
#International air travel of passengers has been permitted in a limited manner under the Vande Bharat mission. Further opening up will take place in a calibrated manner.

Union Home Ministry decides to stop door-to-door screening in all areas of Delhi so that it can be undertaken in containment zones on priority basis, sources have told news agency ANI.
The Delhi Govt had earlier directed to carry out door-to-door screening of over 35 lakh houses till July 6 as per directions of the Centre.
Maharashtra government extends lockdown till July 31: Here's what is allowed, what is not
With increasing number of cases being reported from the state, Maharashtra on June 29 extended the state-wide lockdown till July 31. Earlier, on June 28, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had said that while lockdown won't be lifted, there might be easing of certain restrictions in the state.
So, what changes with the new extension of the lockdown in the state? According to an order by Maharashtra Chief Secretary Ajoy Mehta, the state government has asked officials to enforce the necessary restrictions in their areas according to requirement.
"Concerned District Collector and Commissioners of the Municipal Corporations in the state may enforce certain measures and necessary restrictions in specified local areas on the permitted non-essential activities and movement of persons to control Covid-19," the order said.
Moreover, adopting Mumbai Police's diktat of following the 2 km-radius, the state government said today that it will restrict inter-district movement of persons within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) unless it is for essential services or office purposes.

Gilead prices COVID-19 drug candidate remdesivir at $2,340 per patient
Gilead Sciences Inc has priced its COVID-19 drug candidate remdesivir at $2,340 for a five-day treatment in the United States and some other developed countries,as it set the price for a single vial at $390.
The price for US private insurance companies will be $520 per vial, the drugmaker said, which equates to $3,120 per patient for a treatment course using 6 vials of remdesivir.
This is below the $5,080 per course recommendation by US drug pricing research group, the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review, last week.
Gilead has entered into an agreement with the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), with the agency and states set to manage allocation to hospitals until the end of September.

COVID-19 impact | Here's how much FY21 GDP of states could contract
The COVID-19-induced lockdown could lead to gross state domestic product (GSDP) or GDP of states shrinking up to 14.3 percent in FY21, according to rating firm India Ratings and Research.
States like Assam, Goa, Gujarat and Sikkim could face double-digit contraction in FY21 GDP, the rating agency said in a report on June 29.
"We expect the gross state domestic product (GSDP) of all states in India to contract in FY21. The contraction will be in the range of 1.4 percent-14.3 percent,” IndRa said in the report.
The top five major states where the impact of lockdown was the most pronounced are Karnataka, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Odisha.

A BJP MLA from Rewa in MadhyaPradesh test positive for novel coronavirus on Monday, district chief medical health officer RS Pandey said. Three legislators, two from the BJP and one from the Congress, have been detected with the infection this month.
The swab sample of the MLA was collected on Sunday and contract tracing had begun as per protocol, Pandey informed. The MLA had earlier said he was going into self-isolation after a fellow legislator from Mandsaur tested positive for the virus on June 20.
