93% new MPs are crorepatis: 10 richest members in 18th Lok Sabha

As the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha election is scheduled to begin on June 24, here's a look at the top 10 richest members of the lower house

About 504 or 93 per cent of the 543 MPs elected to the 18th Lok Sabha are crorepatis, which is a significant increase compared to the previous two general elections. In 2019, 88 per cent of the elected MPs were crorepatis while in 2014, they were 82 per cent, as per Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR).

As the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha election is scheduled to begin on June 24, two weeks after Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister for a third time, here's a look at the top 10 richest members of the lower house-

1. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Telugu Desam Party

TDP's Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani is the richest MP elected in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, with total assets worth more than Rs 5,705 crore. Pemmasani contested from Andhra Pradesh's Guntur constituency and defeated his closest rival, YSRCP's Kilari Venkata Rosalah, by over 3.44 lakh votes. He was sworn in as minister of state in the ministry of rural development and ministry of communications.
