The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has recorded a surge of 51 percent in the number of companies that visited the institute for internship offers this year. Besides, the institute also saw a 19 percent rise in internship offers received on day one of the campus internship drive for the 2023-24 batch students.
The drive was held in two sessions on August 5 and 12 this year. Nineteen International internship offers were received from seven companies, and there was a 17 percent increase in the number of students who secured internships.
“An internship is now an essential component for the launching of a successful and fulfilling career for students. It enables them to [apply] their skills and knowledge acquired during their curriculum in a real-life work environment. I’m happy with the efforts made by our team to enable students to get internships despite turbulent conditions,” said Professor Sathyan Subbiah, Advisor (Placement & Internship) at IIT Madras.

The internship drive was conducted in hybrid mode with international offers coming from companies in the US, the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, and The Netherlands.
Texas Instruments, JP Morgan Chase & Co, Adobe. Procter and Gamble, and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories were among the major recruiters which participated in the drive.
