Reliance Industries, L&T Ltd, ReNew and Waaree are among the 14 companies that have bid for incentives under India's National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM). This list is for the second round of incentives offered by the Union government for setting up green hydrogen production units in India.
The set of bids were opened by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and released late in the evening on December 9. For this, SECI on July 11 this year had issued the tender for tranche-II of green hydrogen incentive under the NGHM for 450,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) of green hydrogen.
The other companies that have bid for the incentive under Tranche II are AM Green Ammonia (India) Private Limited, ChemSepT Engineering Private Limited, Avaada GreenH2 Private Limited, GH2 Solar Private Limited, Green Infra Renewable Energy Farms Private Limited, Matrix Gas and Renewables Limited, Nishal Enterprises Private Limited, Ocior Energy India Private Limited, Oriana Power Limited, Suryadeep KA1 Project Private Limited.
The final list of winners of the incentive under Tranche II for green hydrogen production is expected by January, 2025.
For this tranche (Mode 1), the government has capped incentives at Rs 50 per kg in the first year of production, Rs 40 per kg in the second year and Rs 30 per kg in the third year of production.
In January this year, SECI released the first list of winners under Tranche I of Mode 1. The winners in the first tranche were Reliance Green Hydrogen and Green Chemicals Limited, ACME Cleantech Solutions Private Ltd, Greenko ZeroC Private Ltd, Torrent Power, HHP Two Private Ltd, Welspun New Energy, CESC Projects Ltd, UPL Ltd and JSW Neo Energy Ltd.
As per the government's guidelines, companies can bid twice for green hydrogen production in one mode, but the same cannot be applied in two different modes. In the list issued by SECI on December 9, Reliance was the only company which won the incentive in Tranche I and has applied again for a second round of incentives under Tranche II of the same mode.
The NGHM has a total initial outlay of Rs 19,744 crore, of which Rs 17,490 crore has been kept for the production-linked incentives (PLIs) for producing green hydrogen and manufacturing electrolysers. Of the Rs 17,490 crore incentive outlay, Rs 13,050 crore is for the production of green hydrogen and its derivatives, while Rs 4,440 crore has been allotted for incentives for electrolyser manufacturing.
